icologie are partnering with various industry leaders in supporting The Green Expo, being launched this year,  taking place from 18-20 November 2011 at the CTICC. The Green Expo will bring together all those who believe that a sustainable lifestyle is not only possible but also trendy and cool.

The Expo is open to the public and will focus on  sustainability issues appealing to the homeowner as well as the business person.  Exhibitors range from organizations and businesses involved in all things green – green design, green living, organic, eco-friendly, recycled, reused, raw, natural and re-purposed…….whether its stuff, ideas or minimisation thereof.

Andy Le May will be speaking at the Nampak  Canvironment Speakers Corner at the Expo over the next three days, on “Green going mainstream”, why not swing by?

icologie will be there to assist the organisers, Three City Events, to “walk the talk” and green their offering….Event greening refers to the process of incorporating socially and environmentally responsible decision making into the planning, organisation and implementation of, and participation in, an event or exhibition, large or small. It includes sustainable development principles and practices into all levels of event organisation, and aims to ensure that an event is hosted in a responsible manner.

Over and above event greening, we will be assisting them with their carbon footprint, and those of the exhibitors, offsetting options as well as assisting exhibitors with advice on greening their stands. A Greenest Stand award , invigilated by icologie, will  be awarded to raise awareness as well as reward those that have truly given this consideration during the design and building of their stand .  Andy Le May will also be presenting on Saturday and Sunday on Sustainability, Energy and COP17, check out the talks in the speakers lounge!

Green Stand-building is a relatively new concept.  Exhibition stands have been classed as throwaway 1 or 2 show items for many years now. But as the green industry grows, sustainability in stand design and building is now becoming a consideration. Not only is this the responsible thing to do, but it speaks volumes in creating awareness as well as display’s the organisation’s commitment to the environment. Through the use of clever design, considered use or materials, the latest modular systems and technologies, or by taking the minimalistic approach……stands are becoming now reusable, reconfigurable , more energy and resource efficient and with a lower carbon footprint whilst still retaining the wow factor.

icologie and Three City Events have been actively involved in the greening of the event industry and have an active involvement

in the newly formed Event Greening Forum.  The aim of the Event Greening Forum is to promote and embrace sustainable and ethical business practices within the events industry in South Africa, with an initial focus on meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions and events.

We are also giving away free tickets to the first 50 people that come to the Lunch Time Talk with Lance on The 16th.  Look forward to seeing you there!
